Both my parents were educators. My dad, Roy Mann, was a hands-on participant in everything. Whether in education or church or within the family, he did more than what was expected as part of his worldview. While he was a principal, he attended all school events including frequently overlooked ones such as FFA banquets, junior varsity games, and ice cream socials.
Sometimes my father’s hands-on participation was subtle but I remember that he brought home the necessity of having a plan along with persistence. Not all fathers are created equal but mine was my most important role model.
